WoW Forever mounts: what level, what it costs, and how riding works now
WoW Forever mounts still come at level 40, and epic mounts at 60, but the mount itself now costs 20 gold instead of 80: the price moved into riding training, as in Burning Crusade. The new mounts, from the game files of build 70450.

WoW Forever mounts come at level 40, and epic mounts at 60. What changed is the price: the mount itself costs 20 gold instead of 80, because Blizzard moved the cost into riding training, the way Burning Crusade did, and you get a mount when you learn to ride. These numbers are from the game files, build 1.60.1.70450 of the beta.
WoW Forever mount level
The mounts’ own level requirement hasn’t moved. The regular ones, like the Horn of the Timber Wolf and the Brown Ram, need level 40, and the epic ones, like the Swift White Steed, need level 60.

Blizzard’s BlizzCon deep dive says WoW Forever adopts “the Burning Crusade-style mount-cost approach”: the up-front cost shifts into training, and learning to ride grants a mount. The training price is set on the server, so the game files don’t show it. We’ll add it when the live game does.
Riding skills: Apprentice and Journeyman
Riding works the way it did in Burning Crusade, with two skills in the files:
- Apprentice Riding: basic ground mounts, a riding skill of 75;
- Journeyman Riding: swift ground mounts, a riding skill of 150.
There are no flying mounts in WoW Forever, Blizzard says.
New WoW Forever mounts
- Galestriders, the Skyborne mounts, with their own Galestrider Riding: Empyrean, Regal and Stormy, each in a swift version, and an Umber pair.
- Forsaken Paladins get class mounts for the first time: a Warhorse at level 40 from the quest A Trusty Steed, and the Forsaken Charger at 60 from the quest line Justice and Retribution.
- The Cerulean Prideclaw comes with the Skyborne Heroic Pack. You need the riding skill to use it.
Mounts across rulesets
Collections are account-wide across rulesets, Blizzard says, with Hardcore the exception: what you earn on a Hardcore character reaches your other rulesets, but nothing flows back. More on that in can you switch rulesets in WoW Forever?

Collections are account-wide across rulesets, Blizzard says, with Hardcore handled differently: what you earn in Hardcore reaches the other rulesets, but not the other way round.
What mounts do the Skyborne ride?
