What the developers said
Blizzard's developers on its podcast, panels and streams, newest first. Each line sums up what they said at that moment, and the badge says how it holds up against the game files.
Matches the files The city of Dalaran is now fully present next to the Alterac Mountains, no longer hidden in its purple bubble.
The files Dalaran (AreaTable 279, parent Alterac Mountains) has a new full city WMO (18950) with about 40 named areas (The Violet Citadel, Runeweaver Square, The Underbelly...) and a new Alterac subzone 'Old Dalaran Ruins' (17707).

Matches the files New dungeon in Dalaran (Alterac Mountains): the Kirin Tor barrier is down and the city is in chaos; recommended levels 28-33; 'not just a dungeon', a whole city to explore.
The files Map 2959 'City of Dalaran': MapDifficulty 5923 (5 players, ContentTuning 4512 = 28); official 28-33; Group Finder 1983 28-35 (was 24-37 before build 70009). 9 encounters (3298-3312) and a city WMO (18950) with about 40 named areas, so it really is a whole city. Barrier/chaos story is unverifiable.
