Bind on Forever

Change report · Priest

Blizzard's notes say 5 minutes. Contingency Plan and Divine Grace say 10.

Blizzard's Sep 30 Priest deep dive gives the two new racial Priest spells a 5-minute cooldown. Build 70245 says 10. Five spells the post calls unchanged also changed, from Hex of Weakness to Feedback's mana cost.

Forever keeps Classic’s race-specific Priest spells and adds two. Blizzard’s Sep 30 deep dive lists both new ones with a 5-minute cooldown. In build 70245 both sit at 10 minutes, on every rank. Game files · build 70245

The two new spells

Spell Who gets it Blizzard’s post Build 70245
Contingency Plan Gnome Priests, level 20 5 min 10 min
Divine Grace Human Priests, level 10 5 min 10 min

The rest of both descriptions matches the tooltips. Contingency Plan is a 30 sec ward that fires a shield and a 15 sec heal over time when the target drops below 35% health. Divine Grace heals a friendly target below 50% health, removes Weakened Soul and can’t target yourself. The post also says Contingency Plan stacks with Renew and Power Word: Shield, which no field in the files shows either way. Blizzard · Sep 30

Divine Grace shares its cooldown category with Desperate Prayer, so the two would lock each other out. No Priest has both in Forever: Desperate Prayer went Dwarf only, and Humans get Divine Grace in its place. Game files · build 70245

Five spells the post calls unchanged

The deep dive marks these “Unchanged”. Their tooltips read close to Classic, but the numbers under them moved. Game files · build 70245

  • Hex of Weakness (Troll): it cuts the target’s melee attack power by 204 at rank 6. Classic cut their damage by 20. The 20% healing cut and 2 min duration stay.
  • Touch of Weakness (Undead): the attacker loses 204 melee attack power at rank 6 instead of 20 damage, and the Shadow hit drops from 64 to 56.
  • Desperate Prayer (Dwarf only in Forever): the base heal dropped slightly (rank 7: 1324 to 1562 became 1269 to 1497), and rank 1 takes a bigger share of spell power (0.268 to 0.429).
  • Feedback (Human): much cheaper. Rank 1 costs 55 mana instead of 140, rank 5 costs 230 instead of 580.
  • Shadowguard (Troll): each charge hits for less. Rank 1 went from 20 to 13 Shadow damage, rank 6 from 116 to 96.

Hex of Weakness and Touch of Weakness took a flat 20 damage off every hit in Classic. Attack power turns into damage per second of weapon speed, 1 damage per 14 attack power, so 204 attack power takes about 29 off a 2.0 speed swing and 52 off a 3.6 speed two-hander. Against slow, heavy hitters they’re stronger now. Against an attacker swinging faster than about 1.4 sec, they’re weaker.

Fear Ward for everyone

Fear Ward was a Dwarf Priest spell in Classic. In build 70245 every Priest learns it. Game files · build 70245
