The Pouch of Violet Dust is WoW Forever’s launch Twitch drop, and the window closes on November 12 at 4:30 p.m. PST. Watch four hours of World of Warcraft on Twitch with your accounts linked, and you get a toy that turns a campfire purple and makes every camp buff last 2 hours instead of 1. It only works until early December, then it’s gone.
How to get the Pouch of Violet Dust
- Link Twitch to Battle.net at account.battle.net/connections. If you changed your password or either account since you last linked them, link again. Linking a different Twitch account starts a 7-day wait.
- Watch four hours of eligible World of Warcraft streams between November 4, 4:30 p.m. PST and November 12, 4:30 p.m. PST. Any channel in the World of Warcraft category counts, and you can switch channels without losing progress.
- Claim the drop on Twitch.
- Log into the Battle.net region your WoW Forever characters are on. The toy goes to the first region you log into after claiming. It can take up to 24 hours to arrive.
Watching works in a PC or Mac browser and in the Twitch app on Android and iOS. Console and smart TV apps don’t count. Blizzard’s post also says a YouTube account linked through its Connected Apps page can earn drops.

What the Pouch of Violet Dust does
Use it near a campfire and its flames turn violet. Blizzard says every camp benefit then lasts 1 hour longer, for 2 hours in total, and anyone else resting at that camp gets the same extension.
In build 70790 the toy’s spell, Throw Violet Dust, has a 1 sec cast and a 10 yd range, and the toy has a 30 min cooldown. Its tooltip says it “Requires WoW: Forever Launch Celebration”, which is the event that ends in early December. The flavor text reads “Many gathered. Many watched.” The toy came into the files in build 70753 on November 2, two days before Blizzard announced it.
Why the extra hour is worth having
A camp’s buffs come from the features players build around the fire: an Alchemist’s Mana Well, a Blacksmith’s Sharpening Wheel and the rest. Each one lasts an hour once you’ve sat by the fire for a minute. The camp builder has every feature and its buff by level. With the dust, one stop covers two hours of questing, and since everyone at the camp gets it, one pouch serves a whole group.
The dust leaves rested XP alone. A Camp Tent still tops you up to 5% of a level once an hour, as in The Great Outdoors, Forever’s camping quest.
Plan your stops with the BoF Guide
The BoF Guide, Bind on Forever’s free WoW Forever in-game leveling guide, carries the camping quests and every trainer stop on each start’s road from 1 to 30. It’s on CurseForge and Wago. The rest of launch week’s dates are on What’s new.
