WoW Forever Hotfixes November 5: Every Change

WoW Forever’s November 5 hotfixes are the first list since launch, and its biggest change is to Tauren Plainsrunning in battlegrounds. Hotfixes change the game on Blizzard’s servers without a patch, so nothing needs downloading. The other fixes are smaller: a Skyborne Druid trainer, a few respawn timers, and the price of Mild Spices.

The Mild Spices change shows in the server data we read from the game’s cache: the client files in build 70790 say 2 copper, the server sends 1.

Plainsrunning in battlegrounds

Plainsrunning is the Tauren racial that adds 2% movement speed for every 5 sec spent moving, up to 60%. Taking damage or standing still wears it down. Until this fix, a Tauren could build stacks by running laps during the preparation phase, leave the gate at full speed, and keep them while carrying a flag. Both are gone now: it can’t stack in the preparation phase, and picking up a flag cancels the stacks. Outside battlegrounds it works as before. The racial’s other changes are in every racial change in WoW Forever.

Boats, zeppelins and empty cities

Two replies from Aggrend on November 5 cover the launch’s biggest complaints.

Boats and zeppelins were getting “lost in the maelstrom for extended periods of time”. As a stopgap, Blizzard put portals near most docks and inside the zeppelin towers. A proper fix was due the next morning, and the portals come out once it’s verified.
Quiet cities: some areas don’t feel as populated as they should, and the team planned to tweak numbers the next day. How many players you see in one place comes down to layering, explained in WoW Forever layering.

WoW Forever known issues (November 5)

Blizzard’s known issues list, updated November 5, has these open:

PvP vendors are temporarily unavailable in Orgrimmar, Stormwind and Dalaran.
Razorfen Kraul: players can fall into a cauldron near Roogug and get stuck.
Stormwind: guards send you to “Fyrenz Stagazer” for transmogrification; the NPC is Fyrenz Vishonar.
Bank: bank pages show as pages, so the tabs sit outside the frame.
Gamepad: deleting more than one rare or epic item can throw an error, and push-to-talk instructions can show when you join a voice channel.
Stormwind Keep: the entrance can flash with the wrong textures.

“Vorsha the Lasher” in Ashenvale was disabled over a crash and has been struck off the list, so it’s back on.

Leveling through the fixes

The BoF Guide, Bind on Forever’s free WoW Forever in-game leveling guide, sends Skyborne Druids to Lotheluum Starbreeze for training on the way to 30, and carries Escorting Erland on every Horde road through Silverpine Forest.
