The best WoW Forever addons
WoW Forever runs on the modern game's interface and its addon rules, so Classic addons don't carry over and every addon needs a Forever version. Most of the big ones have one, from Deadly Boss Mods and Details! to Auctionator, Bagnon, Plater, Bartender4 and Leatrix Plus. WeakAuras, OmniCC and TradeSkillMaster are among the few that don't, and each has a stand-in below. Forever also builds in a damage meter and a cooldown manager, and its files carry a swing timer.

CurseForge's Forever list has 4,608.
Built into the game
- A damage meter. Turn it on under Options, Advanced Options, Damage Meter. Blizzard checks its numbers on the server, and addon meters read from it.
- The Cooldown Manager. Off by default; turn it on in Options, under Gameplay Enhancement. Since the Oct 8 beta build it covers every class, racials and trinkets, with consumables to come.
- A swing timer, in the files. Build 1.60.1.70450's files carry an Enable Swing Timer checkbox in Advanced Options and swing timer settings in Edit Mode, loaded for Forever only. Blizzard hasn't announced it, and we haven't seen it switched on in game.
- Debuffs on nameplates. Forever's nameplate options can show your damage over time effects on enemies.
- Edit Mode. Move and resize most of the UI, and show a Druid's mana in forms through the Personal Resource Display. When Xaryu looked on Sep 22, bags and the map weren't in it, which is why Baganator and Leatrix Maps are so common.
- Discord voice. Since Oct 8, voice chat can run through Discord, under Audio settings.

Blizzard's addon rules for Forever
Forever uses the modern game's addon interface, with the combat limits Blizzard brought in for Midnight. Combat values are secret to addons, so they can show them but not act on them. The combat log is closed, and so are threat numbers, which is why every Forever meter reads Blizzard's own. Addons that automate rotations, marking or callouts are out. Restyling the UI, moving frames, bags, maps, chat and auction tools are all still open.
Blizzard's developers say the aim is that nobody needs an addon to play, and that addons shouldn't decide how a fight goes. No Blizzard note since Oct 1 has loosened or tightened the rules. Early in the beta, addon settings reset on every restart; players report it fixed in build 70009, around Sep 24.
From Blizzard's Sep 17 developer Q&A and the game files (build 70450).
Getting them
- CurseForge. Pick the Forever filter on the site, or use the CurseForge app, which has supported Forever since Sep 22. Wago Addons lists Forever too.
- By hand. On the beta, unzip into
World of Warcraft\_classic_beta_\Interface\AddOns. Blizzard hasn't named the folder for the live game. - Check the version. Forever addons are built for interface number 16001. One built only for Classic Era shows as out of date, or doesn't load.
