WoW Forever Build 70840: Elixir of Endless Experience

WoW Forever build 1.60.1.70840 reached the live client on November 7, and its biggest addition is unannounced: an Elixir of Endless Experience that increases experience gained by 200% for 1 hour. It comes with nine more “Endless” consumables, a set of low-level copies of Classic raid gear and legendary weapons, and readable maps for the five new dungeons. All ten are common quality, stack to 20 and have no level requirement. A new Noggenfogger Elixir came with them. Stacking buffs five times over, and tripling experience, is well beyond anything a normal vendor or recipe sells, so these look made for a special mode or event rather than the open world. Nothing in the files says where they drop or who sells them.

Build 70840 adds new copies of Classic’s most famous weapons, at a fraction of their old power and with no level requirement:

The Forever copies of Classic raid gear such as Quick Strike Ring, Band of Sulfuras and Earthshaker, seven pieces in all, went from item level 10 to 30, and from binds when picked up to binds when equipped.

New boss-style spells sit next to the Endless consumables in the files: “Super Hogger has transformed into Ultra Hogger”, then Giga Hogger and Cosmic Hogger, along with “Call Anathema” and “Call Benediction”. Together they point to one new activity with a Hogger boss and these items as its gear. That’s a reading of names in the files, not a confirmed feature.

The five new dungeons in the files

The maps of the Drowned City, Krol’dok Stronghold, Alcaz Prison, Blackmaw Hold and The Shaper’s Terrace weren’t in the client’s map list until now. Build 70840 adds them, with their Group Finder entries and loading screens and 29 new area names, among them the Shaper’s Plateau and Blackmaw Grove. Their tuning levels match Blizzard’s table, 35, 40, 48 and 55, except The Shaper’s Terrace, which the files tune to 60 where Blizzard’s table says 58-60. Every dungeon’s levels are on WoW Forever dungeons.

Class changes: tank threat and the Shadowmeld fix

The threat numbers were on the servers since launch, as covered in the launch patch notes, checked; now the client files carry them too. The Ravage and Pounce restriction is the fix for Shadowmelded Night Elf Druids, listed in WoW Forever hotfixes, November 6.

Build 70862: the November 6 hotfixes in the files

Build 70862 gives Shank its ranks and a Boot Knife line of 2 combo points, adds Reckless Swings to Gore Drinker’s tooltip, makes Ravage and Bear Form read their numbers from the spell data, and cuts one of the Orc Command racial’s two effects from 5 to 0. Each matches a line in the November 6 hotfixes.
