WoW Forever class tuning on November 10: Hunter pets, Voidwalkers, Affliction's Wrack and Enhancement Shaman's Strength
WoW Forever's first class tuning comes on Tuesday, November 10: sturdier Hunter pets and Voidwalkers, a reason for Affliction to cast its damage-over-time spells next to Wrack, and Strength back on top for Enhancement Shamans.

WoW Forever’s first class tuning lands on Tuesday, November 10. Blizzard announced it on November 6, two days after launch, and named three problems: Hunter pets and Voidwalkers die too easily as tanks, Affliction Warlocks do best by channeling Wrack and nothing else, and Enhancement Shamans want caster gear. It also said class balance changes will come on Tuesdays from now on, when they’re needed. Blizzard gave no numbers, so these are plans for now, and we’ll check what changed in the server data on the day.

Enhancement Shaman: collect Strength gear now
Blizzard told Enhancement Shamans who are leveling to collect Strength and Attack Power gear from now on. Gear picked up for Intellect today will be worth less after the change. Blizzard’s aim is for Enhancement’s best items to carry Strength or Attack Power, with some Intellect or spell power on the side.
The game files show why Intellect won. In build 1.60.1.70862 the Shaman talents include:

With both, one point of Intellect adds 1.5 Attack Power and 0.3 spell damage, plus mana and spell critical strike. In Classic, a point of Strength gives a Shaman 2 Attack Power and nothing for spells. Blizzard hasn’t said whether it will change these talents, Strength, or something else. Affliction Warlock: Wrack and the damage-over-time spells
Wrack is Affliction’s channel, a talent that needs 30 points in the tree. At level 60 it deals 86 Shadow damage every second and makes the target take 10% more damage from your other Shadow damage-over-time effects for 6 sec. Players found that channeling it all the time does more damage than stopping to keep Siphon Life, Corruption and Bane of Agony up. Blizzard wants the damage-over-time spells always worth casting, with Affliction’s total damage the same as now.
One Wrack bug is already gone. Soul Siphon raises Drain Life, Drain Soul and Wrack by 4/8/12% for each of your other Affliction effects on the target. The November 6 hotfixes stopped Wrack from counting itself. The Warlock talent calculator shows the tree.
Hunter pets and Voidwalkers as tanks
Blizzard says pets and Voidwalkers should tank “relatively the same as in Classic Era”, and it will change their stats to get there. The Voidwalker already got a first step in the November 6 hotfixes: about 40 more base health at every level. Pet stats come from Blizzard’s servers, so the client files can’t show the numbers; we’ll read them after the patch. Hunter pets have changed quietly before, in the build 70450 pet change. Should Enhancement Shamans use Strength or Intellect gear in WoW Forever?
Strength and Attack Power. Blizzard said on November 6 that Intellect and spell power are currently better for Enhancement, that it will change this so Strength is always the strongest stat, and that leveling Enhancement Shamans should collect Strength and Attack Power gear from now on.
Why is Intellect so strong for Enhancement Shaman in WoW Forever?
In build 1.60.1.70862 the Shaman talent Mental Dexterity turns up to 150% of your Intellect into Attack Power, and Mental Quickness turns up to 30% of it into spell damage and healing. One stat feeds both melee and spells. Blizzard hasn't said which part it will change.
Are Hunter pets and Voidwalkers getting buffed in WoW Forever?
Yes. Blizzard said on November 6 that Hunter pets and Warlock Voidwalkers aren't as durable as tanks as intended, and that it will adjust their stats so they hold up about as well as in Classic Era. The November 6 hotfixes already raised Voidwalker base health by about 40 at every level.
What is changing for Affliction Warlocks in WoW Forever?
Blizzard said always channeling Wrack beats also casting Siphon Life, Corruption and Bane of Agony. It plans changes so those spells are always worth casting with Wrack, without changing Affliction's total damage.
