Does Questie work in WoW Forever? Yes, and the game has its own quest helper too
Questie has supported Forever since Sep 25 and still lacks some of the new quests. Forever also marks quest objectives on its own map, a switch in the map's filter menu. What each shows, and when a route addon does more.
Yes. The official Questie added Forever support in version 12.0.1 on Sep 25, and its newest release, 12.1.0 on Oct 12, refreshed its Forever data from an Oct 10 snapshot. It’s free on CurseForge under the Forever version. Its own notes say it “still lacks complete new Forever content”, so some of Forever’s new quests have no pin yet.
Forever doesn’t leave you without help if you skip it. The game marks quest objectives on its own map, as the modern game does.
Forever’s built-in quest helper
Forever’s map draws the areas where your quests’ objectives are. Three separate switches control the help, each one click:
- Quest objectives on the map: the shaded areas where an objective is. It’s the “Quest Objectives” entry in the world map’s filter menu (the
questPOIsetting in the game’s interface code, build 70374). - Quest levels on the quest log and tracker.
- Difficulty colours, the grey to red scale for how hard a quest is for your level.
Turn all three off and you’re back to reading the quest text to find where to go, the way 2004 played. A creator walked through all three on the first day of the beta.
What Questie adds on top
| Forever’s map | Questie | |
|---|---|---|
| Objective areas for quests you have | Yes | Yes, as spawn pins for each creature or object |
| Quests you can pick up | In the interface code; not checked in game yet | Every giver on the map, with level filters |
| Turn-in spots | Yes | Yes |
| Party members’ progress | No | In tooltips |
| New Forever quests | Whatever the server sends for each quest | Not all yet, by its own notes |
| An order to do them in | No | No |
Questie’s edge is the pins: every place a creature or object for your quest spawns, and every quest giver in the zone, filtered by level. The game’s own map reads each quest from the server, so it doesn’t wait for a database to catch up on a new one. How many of Forever’s new quests come with objective areas, we haven’t counted in game yet.
When you want a route instead
Neither one tells you what to do next. That’s what a leveling guide addon does: the next step, an arrow to it, the order that wastes the least walking, and the quests worth skipping. Questie pairs with any of them; if your route addon accepts quests for you, leave Questie’s own automatic questing off.
