RestedXP’s addon is free on CurseForge, and its public routes for Forever run to about level 20 for the Alliance and 22 for the Horde, with a work-in-progress dungeon guide to 22. Its full Forever guide costs $30 a faction or $45 for both, paid once, with updates included. RestedXP doesn’t publish where the free part ends; the free routes in its public files stop pointing onward at “21-23 Ashenvale/Stonetalon” and “22-24 Hillsbrad”, which aren’t in those files.
What the paid guide covers today
- 1 to 35: RestedXP’s Oct 9 update says its leveling guides are finished to 35 and being refined in the beta.
- 35 to 60: after launch, for both its Speedrun and Dungeon guides. Until then its Classic Era routes fill in.
- Hardcore: some steps in its Forever routes are marked Hardcore-only or Softcore-only.
- Planned: a Discovery mode for Forever’s new quests, a talent builder and Legacy Point paths.
It’s a speedrun guide first, and RestedXP has years of Classic routes behind it. If the fastest time to 60 is the goal and $45 is fine, it’s a sound buy.
Free alternatives, and how far each goes
| Guide | Free to | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Guidelime with TUGs | 30 | Every starting zone and 12 to 30 written in the beta, Classic’s route for 30 to 60 until launch, dungeon quest guides up to Dalaran. |
| BoF Guide (ours) | 30 | In public beta now. Every start on both factions, dungeon guides to 30, Mining, Herbalism, Skinning and Fishing. Warnings before dangerous pulls. |
| ForeverWisp | 20 | All eight starts, readable on its site too. Gathering guides to 150. |
| RestedXP | about 20 to 22 | The free routes above. |
| Ding! | 60 | Free and open source; its maker says 30 to 60 has only been checked with offline tools. |
| Questie | everything | Quest pins on your map, no route. |
Past 30, the paid choices are RestedXP ($45 for both factions), ForeverWisp ($33.99 for both with gathering until Nov 1, then $39.99), Zygor (its $15 a month Elite plan, from launch; see Zygor for WoW Forever) and the BoF Guide ($30 for both). We make the BoF Guide; weigh that.
Questions
Is RestedXP allowed in WoW Forever? Blizzard’s add-on policy says addons must be free and bans paid premium versions. RestedXP, like the other paid guides, keeps the addon free and sells the guide content separately. Blizzard hasn’t ruled on that for Forever; our addons comparison has the details.
Do I need RestedXP for Forever’s new quests? No guide is required for them. Forever’s own map marks quest objectives (how to switch it on), and the BoF Guide’s free routes take in 480 of Forever’s new quests on the way to 30.
