WoW Forever professions for leveling
Cooking does the most for leveling in WoW Forever. 103 of the foods it makes add 5% to the XP you get from kills, and every camp starts from its campfire. First Aid now makes the healing potions Alchemy made in Classic, and Leatherworking's Camp Tent tops up your rested XP. Gathering skills bring in gold, and only the six crafting professions earn Legacy points.

What each profession does for a leveler
Two primary professions per character, crafting or gathering, plus all three secondary skills. The camp feature is the first one each profession places; anyone sitting at the camp gets its buff.
103 foods add 5% to the XP from kills while you're Well Fed, and every camp starts from a Cooking campfire.

Cooking and the XP food
Forever's cooked food carries a line Classic's food never had, "Additionally, experience gained from kills is increased by 5%." It sits on 103 of the foods Cooking makes, 34 of them new to Forever, beside their Well Fed stats. Eat for 10 seconds to become Well Fed, and the bonus lasts as long as the buff does. Plain food without a Well Fed buff, such as Charred Wolf Meat, gives no bonus. Quest XP isn't part of it, and since Forever moved much of its XP from kills onto quests, the bonus counts most while you grind or clear a camp for a quest.
The food can go to anyone. Ahmpy's practice group sent all its boar meat to one cook, and creators report that the recipes bind on pickup while the food itself sells on the auction house. The Gourmand Legacy perk makes every food buff last up to twice as long.

First Aid, potions and the tent
First Aid makes all 6 healing potions now, from the Minor Healing Potion up to the Major, learned at 275 skill, beside its bandages and new cures for poison, disease and bleeds. Alchemy keeps its mana potions and a Discolored line of healing potions, which heal about twice as much at once and take 75% of it back over time. Its First Aid Kit gives everyone at camp Stamina, and doesn't stack with Power Word: Fortitude.
Leatherworking's Camp Tent tops up the rested XP of everyone sitting near it to 5% of their level, once an hour on the cooldown every camp feature shares, and adds nothing for anyone who already has more. Hazpataz calls it the weakest camp buff. The Well Rested Legacy perk makes rested XP build faster and raises its cap.

What creators pick
Beta creators on professions for leveling, in their own words summed up and linked to the moment they say it. Their picks, not ours.
Enchanting first
Ranks Enchanting the strongest profession in Forever, top for leveling and for gold, and Mining the best for tanks and melee. Skinning and Leatherworking come last, and the Camp Tent is the weakest camp buff.
One cook for the group
His world-first practice group sends all its boar meat to one cook, who hands XP food to the whole group.
Engineering for tanks
Paladin tanks can't throw a shield, so they should carry grenades to pull at range. Engineering's are best, for the area damage and threat.
First Aid for Hardcore
First Aid's healing potions let Hardcore and self-found players carry potions without taking Alchemy, though Alchemy stays strong.
Crafted gear
Leveling a Mining and Blacksmithing Warrior, he found his low-level crafted gear far better than many quest rewards, so much that he thinks the profession buff went too far.
Warlock pairing
Tailoring and Alchemy for Warlocks, over the usual pairing with Herbalism. Tailoring makes cloth with spell power from level 10 down.
Pairs by armor
For gold, two gathering skills. To make your own gear, pair a crafting skill with its gatherer by armor type, and level all three secondary skills for their camp buffs.
Legacy points and perks
Each crafting profession earns a Legacy point at 150, 225 and 300 skill, 18 in all, the first time any character on the account gets there. Gathering and secondary skills earn none. Several perks then help a leveler or a crafter:
- Well Rested (Adventure) Your rested experience accumulates 4/8/12/16/20% faster and your rested experience cap is increased by 4/8/12/16/20%.
- Gourmand (Resourcefulness) Increases the duration of beneficial effects from eating food by 33/67/100%.
- Permanence (Resourcefulness) Your class abilities which grant long-duration stat or attribute benefits to all party or raid members last 50/100% longer, and the benefits you gain from resting at a camp last 50/100% longer.
- Field Guide (Adventure) Reduces your cooldown on adding Camp features by 8/17/25%
- Working Overtime (Professions) Increases your chance to gain a skill increase from using any primary, secondary, or class-based tradeskill by 4/8/12/16/20%.
- Bountiful Harvest (Professions) You discover 20/40/60/80/100% more Scarce materials from Mining, Herbalism, and Skinning.
- Bartering (Professions) Reduces the gold price of items from all vendors by 5/10%.
Spend them in the Legacy planner.
The Expert books and trainers
Every profession's cap rises in steps. Cooking, First Aid and Fishing need a book, read from 125 skill, to go past 150, and Forever keeps all three unchanged. In Classic, the Expert Cookbook is sold by Shandrina in Ashenvale for the Alliance and Wulan in Desolace for the Horde. Expert First Aid is sold by Deneb Walker in the Arathi Highlands and Balai Lok'Wein in Dustwallow Marsh, and Expert Fishing by Old Man Heming in Booty Bay.
Expert Enchanting, like the other crafting ranks, comes from a trainer, and in Classic only two teach it. Kitta Firewind trains the Alliance at the top of the Tower of Azora in Elwynn Forest, and Hgarth the Horde at Sun Rock Retreat in the Stonetalon Mountains, from 125 skill and level 20. Vendors and trainers are set on Blizzard's servers, and nobody has reported any of them moving in Forever.
Questions
- What is the best profession for leveling in WoW Forever?
- Cooking does the most for leveling speed. 103 of the foods it makes add 5% to the XP you get from kills, on top of their stats, and every camp starts from a Cooking campfire. Cooking, First Aid and Fishing are secondary skills, so any character can take all three beside two primary professions. Among creators, Hazpataz ranks Enchanting the strongest primary profession for leveling and for gold.
- Does food give XP in WoW Forever?
- Yes. 103 cooked foods carry the line "Additionally, experience gained from kills is increased by 5%" beside their Well Fed stats, so the bonus lasts as long as the Well Fed buff, 15 min on most. Eat for at least 10 seconds to become Well Fed.
- Can First Aid make healing potions in WoW Forever?
- Yes. The 6 healing potions Alchemy made in Classic, from Minor to Major, moved to First Aid. The first needs Peacebloom, Mild Spices and an Empty Vial. Alchemy keeps a Discolored line that heals about twice as much at once, then takes 75% of it back over time as a poison or a disease.
- What does the Leatherworking tent do in WoW Forever?
- The Camp Tent tops up the rested XP of everyone sitting near it to 5% of their current level, and does nothing for anyone who already has more. It needs a campfire nearby, and like every camp feature it's on a one-hour cooldown that all camp features share.
- Where do you get the Expert Cookbook in WoW Forever?
- In Classic, Shandrina sells it in Ashenvale for the Alliance and Wulan in Desolace for the Horde. You can read it from 125 Cooking, and it raises the cap to 225. Forever keeps the book unchanged, and nobody has reported it moving, but what vendors sell is set on Blizzard's servers.
- Where is the Expert Enchanting trainer in WoW Forever?
- In Classic, Kitta Firewind trains it for the Alliance, at the top of the Tower of Azora in Elwynn Forest, and Hgarth for the Horde, at Sun Rock Retreat in the Stonetalon Mountains, from 125 skill and level 20. It raises the Enchanting cap to 225. Forever's trainers are set on Blizzard's servers, and nobody has reported them moving.
- Do professions give Legacy points in WoW Forever?
- The six crafting professions do, one point each at 150, 225 and 300 skill, 18 points in all, the first time any character on the account gets there. Gathering professions and secondary skills give none.
