What changed for the WoW Forever Skyborne during the beta: every racial, build by build
Every WoW Forever Skyborne racial change from the first beta build to launch: Wind Blessed went 1%, 3%, then 2% haste, Walk on Air dropped to 90 seconds, and Read Leyline and Skysight became short buffs ley lines and convergences boost.

Few WoW Forever races changed as much during the beta as the Skyborne. Their haste racial went up, then down. Their two actives turned from 15-minute buffs into short ones you strengthen at special places in the world. Here’s every change, in order, from Blizzard’s own words and the game files: the beta’s builds 1.60.1.69876 to 1.60.1.70532, plus the October 26 notes that land with launch.
The Skyborne racials at launch
Both Skyborne share three racials, and each side has one active of its own. These are the launch values, with the October 26 changes in:
| Racial | Who | At launch |
|---|---|---|
| Walk on Air | both | Glide down through the air for 10 sec, steering as you go. 90-second cooldown |
| Wind Blessed | both | 2% spell, melee and ranged haste |
| Elemental Insight | both | 5% more damage to Elementals |
| Read Leyline | High Order (Alliance) | 50% more Health and Mana regeneration for 15 sec; 100% while Attuned |
| Skysight | Windshaper (Horde) | 15% movement speed for 15 sec; 30% while Charged |
High Order Skyborne can be Mages, Windshapers can be Shamans, and both can be Warriors, Hunters, Rogues and Druids, with Druid forms made for the race.

| Oct 15 | Development Notes, build 70425 | More ley lines and elemental convergences in most zones of both continents |
| Oct 15 | the game files, build 70425 | “Ley Line” respelled “Leyline” in the spell names |
| Oct 26 | Development Notes | Wind Blessed down to 2% haste |
| Oct 26 | Development Notes | Read Leyline and Skysight reworked into short buffs, with Attuned and Charged |
| Oct 27 | Development Notes, edited | Attuned and Charged end when you enter a raid |
We checked the October 15 numbers in the files. Build 70425 has Wind Blessed at 3%, Walk on Air at a 90-second cooldown and the short Read Leyline buff at 30 seconds (the build before had it at 15, not the 20 the notes give), and none of them moved again before the beta’s last build, 70532. The October 26 changes came after that build, and the launch client, build 1.60.1.70634, out with name reservation on October 27, doesn’t have them either, so they should switch on at launch. The High Order and Windshaper pages show them as “Coming at launch”.
Wind Blessed: 1%, then 3%, then 2%
Wind Blessed speeds up casts, swings and shots alike, so every Skyborne feels it. It started at 1% and tripled on October 15. Eleven days later Blizzard cut it to 2%, in the same pass that cut the other strong passives: Human Ruthless went to 1% crit, and Dwarf and Tauren lost their crit damage bonuses (the October 26 racial changes). 2% is still twice what Blizzard first announced.
Read Leyline and Skysight: from long buffs to short ones
In the beta, both actives worked the same way: cast one near a ley line (for Read Leyline) or an elemental convergence (for Skysight) and the buff lasted 15 minutes, while anywhere else it faded after 30 seconds. Skysight gave 10% movement speed, mounted too, and Read Leyline 100% more Health and Mana regeneration.
From launch, both become a short buff you can use anywhere, with a stronger version you earn at the right spot:
- Read Leyline gives 50% more regeneration for 15 seconds. Use it at a ley line and you’re Attuned for an hour, which makes it 100%. It can’t be used while Innervate is on you, because Innervate is the stronger effect.
- Skysight gives 15% movement speed for 15 seconds. Use it at an elemental convergence and you’re Charged for an hour, which makes it 30%.
Attuned and Charged both last through death, but entering a raid removes them, so they help in the open world and in dungeons, not in raids. A Windshaper who finds a convergence early in a session runs 30% faster on every Skysight for the next hour, and a High Order Mage drinks a lot less.
What it means for Hardcore
Walk on Air is a glide, so it saves you from a fall that would kill you, and from October 15 it’s back every 90 seconds. Windshaper Skyborne get the best escape of the October 26 pass: up to 30% movement speed for 15 seconds, every Skysight, for an hour after a convergence. Both are in our best race for Hardcore, and every race’s racials against Classic are in every racial Forever changed.
Leveling a Skyborne
Both Skyborne start on Zephras Isle, levels 1 to 12. The BoF Guide, Bind on Forever’s free WoW Forever in-game leveling guide, walks Zephras Isle for both sides and is free to level 30 on CurseForge and Wago. The first hour in every starting zone shows how Zephras Isle opens, and the BoF Guide page has the rest.
Questions
What changed for Skyborne in the WoW Forever beta?
Wind Blessed haste went from 1% to 3% on October 15, then to 2% in Blizzard's October 26 notes. Walk on Air's cooldown dropped to 90 seconds, Read Leyline and Skysight became castable while moving, and on October 26 both turned into 15-second buffs that last an hour once used at a ley line or an elemental convergence.
What are the Skyborne racials in WoW Forever?
Both Skyborne have Walk on Air (a 10-second glide), Wind Blessed (haste) and Elemental Insight (5% damage to Elementals). High Order Skyborne, the Alliance side, add Read Leyline for Health and Mana regeneration; Windshaper Skyborne, the Horde side, add Skysight for movement speed.
How much haste does Wind Blessed give in WoW Forever?
2% at launch, from Blizzard's October 26 notes. It was 1% when the beta opened and 3% from the October 15 update; the last beta build, 1.60.1.70532, still shows 3%.
What do Attuned and Charged do for Skyborne?
From Blizzard's October 26 notes: using Read Leyline at a ley line grants Attuned for 1 hour, which doubles Read Leyline to 100% regeneration. Using Skysight at an elemental convergence grants Charged for 1 hour, which doubles Skysight to 30% movement speed. Both last through death but end when you enter a raid.
Are Skyborne getting classic models in WoW Forever?
Yes. Blizzard said on October 7 that standard definition Skyborne models, Druid forms included, are in development and arrive in early 2027.
