On November 4 everyone starts at level 1 at once, so knowing where the first hour goes saves time when the starting areas are at their busiest. Here’s each start’s opening, from the routes of the BoF Guide, our free in-game leveling guide: who gives your first quest, the quests that follow, and where you’ll be around level 6.
How far an hour takes you depends on class and how much you stop. On the beta, one creator’s timed Skyborne Druid run reached level 5 at 24 minutes and level 10 at about two hours played.

Zephras Isle (Skyborne)
The one start that’s new in WoW Forever. Both Skyborne races begin here: Ailee Farheart gives Coming of Age, then come Harmony in Balance, Infestation Investigation, The Cirrusfly Queen, The Anchors of Zephras and Falling With Style, and your class trainer sends you on your class’s first quest. Around level 6 you meet Raan Wildwind, the Adventurer, who starts the Camping 101 quests. You stay on the isle until about level 13. The whole zone, quest by quest: Zephras Isle.
Northshire (Human)
Deputy Willem at the abbey steps sends you to Marshal McBride inside with A Threat Within, and the classic run follows: Kobold Camp Cleanup, Eagan Peltskinner, Wolves Across the Border, then the Echo Ridge kobolds and the Defias thieves. By about level 6 you’re heading down the road to Goldshire. Elwynn Forest.
Coldridge Valley (Dwarf and Gnome)
Sten Stoutarm starts you with Dwarven Outfitters, then Beginnings, the Coldridge Valley Mail Delivery, A New Threat and The Boar Hunter, before the troll cave. Around level 6 you’re through the tunnel and in Kharanos. Dun Morogh.
Shadowglen (Night Elf)
Melithar Staghelm gives The Woodland Protector, then The Balance of Nature, A Good Friend and A Friend in Need, and the Webwood spiders of the Shadowthread Cave. Around level 6 you reach Denalan by the lake at Dolanaar. Teldrassil.
Valley of Trials (Orc and Troll)
Kaltunk sends you to Gornek with Your Place in the World, and then come Vile Familiars, Cutting Teeth, Sarkoth and Sting of the Scorpid, with Lazy Peons to wake on the way. Around level 6 you’re at the inn in Razor Hill. Durotar.
Camp Narache (Tauren)
Grull Hawkwind starts The Hunt Begins, then A Humble Task, Rites of the Earthmother and The Battleboars, up to Break Sharptusk!. Around level 6 you’re in Bloodhoof Village with Baine Bloodhoof. Mulgore.
Deathknell (Undead)
Undertaker Mordo wakes you with Rude Awakening, then Piercing the Veil, The Mindless Ones and Rattling the Rattlecages, and The Damned and Scavenging Deathknell around the graveyard. Around level 6 you’re in Brill with Executor Zygand. Tirisfal Glades.
Make the first hour count
- Every class has its first trainer visit within the first level or two. Don’t skip it: your second ability is waiting there.
- Quest in a group of two or three while the starting areas are crowded. Shared kills save the most time when everyone is fighting over the same mobs.
- Plan beyond level 6: each start’s road to 60 is in the WoW Forever leveling guide, and the free BoF Guide points the way step by step, with an arrow, in game.

It depends on your start. Skyborne begin with Coming of Age from Ailee Farheart on Zephras Isle, Humans with A Threat Within from Deputy Willem in Northshire, Undead with Rude Awakening from Undertaker Mordo in Deathknell, Orcs and Trolls with Your Place in the World from Kaltunk, Tauren with The Hunt Begins from Grull Hawkwind, Night Elves with The Woodland Protector from Melithar Staghelm, and Dwarves and Gnomes with Dwarven Outfitters from Sten Stoutarm.
How far do you get in the first hour of WoW Forever?

Where do the Skyborne start in WoW Forever?
On Zephras Isle, both High Order (Alliance) and Windshaper (Horde). The isle has its own quests, written for WoW Forever, and you stay there until around level 13.
