BoF Guide 0.9.79: level with a friend from another starting zone, and your BattleTag ready to copy

Two versions of the BoF Guide, Bind on Forever’s free WoW Forever in-game leveling guide, came out on Oct 19. Version 0.9.78 walks you to a friend’s starting zone, and 0.9.79 puts your BattleTag where you can copy it. Both are on CurseForge and Wago, and as a direct download below.

Restart the game once after updating. Version 0.9.79 adds a font file, and a reload doesn’t pick up new files.

Level with a friend from another starting zone

Since 0.9.76 you can follow another start’s road (the menu item is now called Other starting zones): a Night Elf can level through Northshire with a Human friend. What was missing was the trip there. Pick a start somewhere else and the guide now takes you there one leg at a time, with the arrow on each leg, and the road’s own steps take over when you arrive.

A Night Elf going to Northshire, for example, is sent:

1. through the Darnassus portal to Rut’theran Village;
2. onto the boat to Auberdine;
3. onto the Stormwind Harbor boat at Auberdine;
4. up from the harbor into Stormwind, and on to Elwynn Forest.

The Horde’s roads between starts

An Orc or Troll heading for the Tauren road walks from Razor Hill past Far Watch Post and the Crossroads, then through the pass into Mulgore. The guide warns you to keep to the road: at that point the Barrens around it are above your level. Tauren going to Durotar take the same road the other way, and Undead take the zeppelin first.

Starts nobody can reach are no longer offered: no boat goes to the Skyborne island, so other races don’t see that road.

Shorter trips from 30 to 60

In the paid levels 30 to 60 for the Alliance, trips between Darnassus’ side of the world and Stormwind’s (Nethergarde Keep, Darkshire, Booty Bay, Stormwind) now take the Stormwind Harbor boat instead of the long way through Menethil Harbor. Menethil stays where it’s nearer: Ironforge, Arathi, Hillsbrad, the Hinterlands and the Plaguelands. If you bought those levels, import your guide again from your order page to get the new routes.

Your BattleTag, ready to copy

The “Add your purchased guide” window and the “Levels 30 to 60” window now show your BattleTag in a box of its own, in a font where a capital I, a lowercase l and the number 1 all look different. Click it and press Ctrl+C, and paste it at checkout instead of typing it. The paste box, the link box and the feedback box got a thin bronze edge too, so it’s clear where to click.

Every new line is in all six languages.

Can I level with a friend who starts in a different zone in WoW Forever?

Yes. Pick your friend's start under "Other starting zones" in the BoF Guide's menu. Since version 0.9.78 the guide takes you there one leg at a time, by portal, boat or road, and the road's own steps begin when you arrive.

How does a Night Elf get to Northshire in WoW Forever?

Through the Darnassus portal to Rut'theran Village, the boat to Auberdine, the boat from Auberdine to Stormwind Harbor, then up into Stormwind and on to Elwynn Forest. The BoF Guide walks you through each leg with its arrow.

How does an Orc or Troll get to Mulgore in WoW Forever?

On foot: from Razor Hill west past Far Watch Post and the Crossroads, then through the pass into Mulgore. Keep to the road, because the Barrens around it are above your level at that point. Undead take the zeppelin to Orgrimmar first.

Can other races start on the Skyborne island in WoW Forever?

No boat goes to the Skyborne starting island, so the BoF Guide no longer offers that road to other races.

Do I need to restart WoW after updating the BoF Guide to 0.9.79?

Yes, once. Version 0.9.79 adds a font file, and a /reload doesn't load new files. Restart the game after updating.
