BoF Guide 0.9.77: group quests in a party, elites and rares on your map, and a rare alert in the WoW Forever in-game leveling guide

BoF Guide 0.9.77, the free WoW Forever in-game leveling guide addon: group quests when you're in a party, dangerous elites and rares on the world map, a rare alert, your next stops on the map and a Walk on Air timer.

A parchment map with skull markers and a trail of pins beside three small adventurer figurines and a lantern, for elites, rares and next stops on the WoW Forever world map

Version 0.9.77 of the BoF Guide, Bind on Forever’s free WoW Forever in-game leveling guide, is out on CurseForge and Wago, and as a direct download below. It brings group quests when you level with friends, the dangers of each zone on your world map, and a run of fixes our testers asked for.

Restart the game once after updating. This version adds new files, and a reload doesn’t pick them up.

Download the ZIP

The same file as on CurseForge and Wago.

Unzip it into the Interface\AddOns folder of your WoW Forever game (on the beta:World of Warcraft\_forever_\Interface\AddOns), so the guide sits at AddOns\BoFGuide. Restart the game, then type /bofg. When a new version comes out, download it again and replace the folder; your settings stay. More on installing addons.

Group quests when you’re in a party

Quests that need a group now show when you’re in a party and stay out of your way when you’re on your own, along with the quests that follow them. The setting is Group quests: when I’m in a party, always or never.

In a party, right-click a step to share its quest. Hover the pace line to see each friend’s step, and the guide tells you if someone runs an older version. Since 0.9.76 you can follow another start’s road too, and 0.9.77 gives every road the training stops for every class. When a road has no trainer for yours, the menu says so (“no trainer for your class until level 24”).

Elites and rares on your WoW Forever world map

Open the world map and the zone’s dangerous creatures are marked with a skull: its elites and rares, with name and level when you hover. Ones far below your level aren’t shown. Your next stops are on the map too, numbered in order.

The rare alert names a rare once, with a sound, when its nameplate comes into view. On a long road that’s often the warning you need before you pull it.

Made for Hardcore

The guide has a Hardcore setting: follow the game’s ruleset, on or off. In Hardcore mode, on your own, it leaves out the optional quests that send you after an elite. The other safety additions:

  • a drowning warning: the screen’s edges glow red below a fifth of your breath;
  • quests that start an escort or an ambush are never taken by the automation, and the card says why;
  • a Walk on Air timer for Skyborne: a bar counts down your glide, red with a sound in the last three seconds (Walk on Air lasts 10 seconds).

Why this matters on one life is in our Hardcore leveling addon guide.

The reward to take, and smaller help

  • The reward to take: at hand-in, the guide names the reward it picks for your class in chat and outlines it in gold. The choice stays yours.
  • Start from here: right-click a step to start from it when the guide has your place wrong. Undo puts it back.
  • My leveling so far, in the seal’s menu: minutes, quests and deaths per level.
  • A hearthstone button on hearth steps, key bindings for the quest item and target buttons, and a card that tells you when your quest log is full.
  • New settings to sell your gray items at vendors (off by default) and to skip dungeon runs on your road.

Fixes from our testers

Dun Morogh got the most work, from a tester’s reports: Mountaineer Gretchen now comes before the Grizzled Den so you go in once, and Kharanos’s hand-ins happen before you head west. The arrow walks into the dens and Old Icebeard’s cave by their mouths, with a plain warning about him. Across every start, 37 hand-ins now happen on a visit the road already makes. “Kill” only appears for creatures you kill.

If you run Questie with its own automation on, the guide tells you once, because Questie takes the first reward over the guide’s pick.

Get it

The BoF Guide is free from level 1 to 30 for every race and class, in six languages. Update it in the CurseForge or Wago app, or use the ZIP above (how to install addons in WoW Forever). How it compares with the other leveling addons is on the best WoW Forever leveling addons.

Questions

Is there a WoW Forever addon that shows elites and rares on the map?

Yes. Since version 0.9.77, the free BoF Guide marks the elites and rares of the zone you're looking at on the WoW Forever world map with a skull, with name and level on hover. Ones far below your level aren't shown.

Does the BoF Guide warn about rare mobs in WoW Forever?

Yes. When a rare's nameplate comes into view, the BoF Guide names it once in chat, with a sound. You can turn the alert off in the guide's settings.

Can the BoF Guide do group quests when I level with friends?

Yes. In BoF Guide 0.9.77, quests that need a group show when you're in a party and stay out of your way when you're on your own. You can set it to when I'm in a party, always or never, and right-click a step to share its quest with your party.

Does the BoF Guide have a Hardcore mode?

Yes. The BoF Guide has a Hardcore setting (follow the game's ruleset, on or off). In Hardcore mode, when you're on your own, it leaves out optional quests that send you after an elite.

Yes, once. Version 0.9.77 adds new files, and a /reload doesn't load new files. Restart the game after updating, then it works as usual.
